Times are changing and with it, cosmetic medicine. And all thanks to technological evolution, of course. We now have different alternatives when it comes to treating premature aging or excess skin on the face.
Fibroblast skin tightening and microneedling are two revolutionary treatments that make a difference in the skin. They are neither painful nor harmful and offer immediate results that are easy to see.
But what are the differences between the two? We will tell you all about it and invite you to live the MUSSA experience in facial treatment.
Fibroblast Skin Tightening (Plasma Pen Fibroblast)

Fibroblast Plasma Pen Therapy is the treatment that consists of tightening the skin through a non-surgical method that can minimize the appearance of specific wrinkles. Thus, eliminating excess skin and unwanted benign lesions.
To achieve this, a safe and effective device is used to deliver a small amount of plasma to the area to be treated. This device, similar to a pen, discharges a high-frequency electric arc current that, without coming into direct contact with the skin, transfers the appropriate amount of heat to treat wrinkles through the stimulation of fibroblasts.
Note that the continuous action of fibroblasts in the dermis stimulates, at the same time the production of collagen and elastin. This favors the recovery of the skin in different aspects.
The final results of Fibroblast Skin Tightening or Fibroblast Plasma Pen can last several years.
How is the Fibroblast Plasma Pen treatment applied?
- Local anesthetic cream is applied for about 30 to 45 minutes before the treatment to minimize any discomfort. This makes the procedure almost painless.
- It is normal to feel warmth in the treated areas, as well as a tingling or burning sensation
- The technology is suitable for all skin phototypes.
- Temporary post-treatment hyperpigmentation is also common. However, it is part of the healing process.
- Results are immediate.
- 1 - 3 treatments at 6-week intervals are recommended to perfect results.
Microneedling with high platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
Microneedling is an anti-aging procedure that uses acupuncture needles to treat premature aging or improve the appearance of the skin due to the aging process.
The insertion of these needles increases and stimulates collagen production to optimize skin texture and tone. Therefore, the treatment is also known as "collagen induction therapy". The microneedles create small channels in the dermis that facilitate the application of natural and therapeutic substances to the skin.
The results are very optimal, but visible after four to six months of treatment. In the same way, it should be noted that 3 sessions are recommended, separated by an interval of one month.
How is microneedling treatment applied?
- It is recommended to perform the treatment in winter to avoid (mainly) direct contact with the sun.
- During the treatment, it is important to use a high protection sunscreen containing alcohol for the next 2 weeks.
- The treatment is combined with hyaluronic acid to treat aging skin that needs to be revitalized and hydrated quickly.
Differences between Fibroblast Skin Tightening and Microneedling
Although both treatments treat aging skin, the differences are very specific:
- Fibroblast treatment is performed with a pen-like device, while microneedling, on the other hand, relies on microneedles.
- The Fibroblast plasma Pen emits plasma in small amounts onto the area to be treated. Microneedling, on the other hand, is (primarily) a collagen induction therapy.
- Fibroblast: Technology is suitable for all skin phototypes.
- Microneedling: Treatment recommended for very damaged skin.
- Fibroblast guarantees immediate results. Microneedling results are visible within 4 to 6 months.
- The sessions are also different for each treatment: fibroblast depends on 1 to 3 sessions at 6-week intervals. Microneedling requires 3 sessions separated by a one-month interval.
| Relevant aspects | Fibrobast | Microneedling |
